10 days since the big ride it is still hard to believe that it went so well and was such a blast.

Thanks again for your sponsorship and remember if you are fundraising don't be afraid to hit me up.

What a fantastic day it was yesterday. To leave in the dark. Ride along roads with snow down to the edge. Through the occasional drizzle patches. Have to battle into the wind for the last 50km all added to the occasion.

To ride with Ritchie Mils and Jimmy was a real highlight. Another local boy was there,Tim Henshaw, great to catch up with him.

To ride in a bunch of 80 was challenging but fun.

The money raised was a record, $120k and rising.

Thank you to all you generous sponsors, it has been a great journey.

Will I do it again? Probably not but you never know.

Grabbed a photo with the great man at the finish

    Not long to go

Only 5 more sleeps until the Queenstown to Invercargill Westpac Chopper Appeal 250 km Bike ride in a day.

Since committing to the ride, just over 5 weeks ago, I have ridden 1556 km in 60 hours which is approx 26km per hour average. Is it enough ? I guess I will know on Friday night.

I think I am fit enough but the question is am I fast enough to ride with the greats, Ritchie, Mils and Jimmy?

Having the local bunch rides has made the training so much easier, we are so lucky to have them. They may get a bit interesting at times but we always have a coffee and a laugh at the end and come back next week.

The response to sponsorship has been incredible with $2200 raised so far from family, friends and cycling mates...thankyou for your generosity.

The big question is the weather and at the moment it does not look good. There is a big southerly front coming through mid week and going by the screenshot the arrows are still pointing the wrong way on Friday!

I understand TV3 morning show are going to be at Kingston at about 7.20am when we arrive there and a bit later at Athol so tune in.

If I am able to I will do a update after the ride.

Really humbled by the response I have had. Over $1000 raised already. Thanks so much to all you generous people. First big training ride this week, 130km and 900 mts of climbing. Felt ok after it so hopefully have another 120km in me on the day...ouch it is going to hurt.
