Pedalling for Growing Futures

  • An extraordinary ride for an extraordinary cause from Picton to Bluff

      26 October 2026

What an incredible achievement! Our heartfelt congratulations to Nettles Lamont on completing Pedalling for Growing Futures cycling the length of the South Island, all in support of Cholmondeley Children's Centre.

Determination, selflessness and generosity with every pedal, every headwind, every hot exhausting day Picton to Bluff.

Along the way, it was inspiring to see others jump on their bikes and ride alongside Nettles, whether for a few kilometres or much further. Every person who joined her was a wonderful reminder of the power of community, friendship and people coming together for something that truly matters.

Nettles, you have not only conquered the length of the South Island, you have inspired others, raised awareness and shown just how far someone will go for a cause they believe in.

To everyone who has donated, encouraged, supported or cycled alongside Nettles, thank you. Your generosity and kindness are helping make a meaningful difference in the lives of children.

💛 THANK YOU to Nettles, her amazing support crew, Libby Ornsby GM of Cholmodneley who cycled many kms alongside Nettles, ILAM Toyota, accommodation hosts and every person who has supported this ride.

Nettles is now on the other side of Dunedin, cycling hard and well. Her muscles are hurting, her body is sore but her mind is strong and she continues to cycle every day without a rest towards her final destination of Bluff. Many people have made time to meet with Nettles along the way to cheer her on and to find out more about Cholmondeley Children's Centre in Canterbury. Currently Tracie Wilson of Runacares Insurance is cycling with her and Libby Ornsby GM of Cholmondeley has been cycling with Nettles at various points of the South Island ride, including the final leg to Bluff.

We are all so proud of Nettles taking on this challenge and we know that your support has been motivating her each and every day.

    Thank you!

    GO NETTLES
