Almost half of Hospice Funding comes from fundraising... I'm hoping I can help with that!
Auckland
I'm a very hairy person. Lot's of hair here, and lot's of hair there. It's been growing for four years, and quite simply, my mother has had enough of it.
It's time to put my hair to good use...
The proceeds will be going to Harbour Hospice.
1 in 3 people in New Zealand will pass through hospice care in their lifetime.
Despite this, 45% of the annual cost of keeping the service alive comes from fundraising.
The past year has seen a number of my close friends go through the immense hardship of losing a parent... and Hospice NZ was there to care for them and their families during those difficult times.
The goal of hospice care is to support people with a life limiting illness to live every moment in whatever way is important to them, their family and whanau.
It is where so many people in New Zealand who are suffering in the final stages of cancer go to be cared for. In NZ, 23,000 people are diagnosed with Cancer every year.
I'm terrified of cutting my hair. I love my hair. But the anxiety I have about getting shawn like a sheep is nothing in comparison to the stress of losing a loved one. This fundraiser is my little bit to try and contribute to the care for those people, and I'm hoping you'll get behind me. Every cent helps :)
$0 - No change
$500 - Keep Everything except for the hair on my chin... that goes to the bin.
$1000 - Shave the beard, keep the moustache.
$2500 - Beard gone. Totally gone. Ooof.
$5000 - As bald and bare as a leather bag. All hair gone (top of head and bottom of head).
$5000 + - I guess we'll get creative.
I will also be donating 5% to Givealittle to help them continue to run this platform: a vehicle for so many looking for financial assistance in times of hardship.
Very close friends of mine have been through the hardship of losing their parents in recent months. In their memory, and for all of the help the hospice gave their families, I want to try give a little back.
WE DID IT!!!!!!!! 30 November 2018
YAHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
We got there!!!!! Less than 24 hours now until the hair cut, and today we've made it to the goal of $5000!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
Although I am cutting my hair tomorrow, I am extending this page so that you can still donate up to 2 weeks from now.
Why am I doing this? All of my hair will be donated to Freedom Hair, a company that makes wigs for those in need. They will need to asses the hair to see whether or not they can use it... and it should take around 2 weeks! If they can use it, they will be in a position to donate.
To all of the 99 donors, thank you to the moon and back. Your reward will be a live video of my head being converted from a mop to a mowed lawn. From Boromir to Britney.
I'm going to spend the rest of the day celebrating my last few hours with a full head of hair... but do tune in tomorrow when it's coming off!!
Thank you again so much to everyone who has donated. It is going to make such a difference for those going through Harbour Hospice North Shore!!!!!!!
