In the lead up to the show, let’s see who can get the most donations! With over 500 babies born in our district each year and Baby Box need your support to be able to provide the best start for our local families!
This year the Christmas Show will support the local charity – Queenstown Lakes Baby Box
Baby Box is a simple concept which has been in existence for more than 75 years. It all started in Finland where expectant mothers were given a Baby Box by the state that serves as a starter kit for their new baby. It contains clothes, blankets, and other newborn necessities, and the Baby Box itself - which is lined with a mattress is used as the child's first bed. It is believed that these Baby Boxes have helped Finland achieve one of the world's lowest infant mortality rates.
Baby Box Queenstown Lakes sees the potential of this great concept and is taking it a step further – to utilise the Baby Box to provide a vital connection to our place, our people and services available when a newborn joins a family.
Baby Box Queenstown Lakes has been delivering Baby Boxes since 2018 and has seen over 400 parents receive this great gift.
The charity is funded from generous donations from the community, handmade quilts and knitting from local individuals and groups, with donations from fundraising and sponsorship.
So get behind this amazing local cause and give a little because it all adds up to a lot!!!!!!
The Christmas Show and Remarkable's Men Ballet are raising the funds for this deserving charity
