Power-walking the 50km Taupo Ultramarathon to raise funds for Waipuna Hospice

    I am hoping to complete the race in under 10hrs, and be happy with 9hrs and 58mins.

    I have one friend as a support person who will meet me at Kinloch, with a seat and provisions, change of socks and shoes if needed, which will be the first proper stop then over the hill to the finish.

    Wish me luck and thank you to all of you who have supported me on my journey to this point.

    Race day I am using a Tailwind product that supplies all the nutrients etc that I need in a drink during the race, so I don’t have to bother to work out what and how much to eat, and then a recovery drink for after.

    Did you know... I have to take on me survival blanket, polyprop hat, gloves, long sleeved top and a waterproof jacket that has sealed seams, and headlight, it will be all inspected before and during the race. I will have a vest on with bottles in the front and gear in the back.

    DIET! Did you now that to train for the Taupo Ultramarathon I have to eat a special diet? Neither did I! My diet right now leading up to this event is concentrating on food quality, high nutrient foods, lots of veg’s and good meat, keeping up fluids, and I reckon I will be set all set.

  • Training is tapering now...

    Tapering now, so 4 more 15min core workouts, walks including, 1x1 and a half hours, 1hr, 15min and 10min.

    With lots of stretching and foam rolling, last day of training will be next Wednesday!
