Project 600: Climbing Stairs for NZ mental health

Project 600: Climbing one flight of stairs everyday for every kiwi we lost too soon last year.

If you’ve somehow managed to live your life without being touched by suicide in Aotearoa you’re amongst the lucky few- we have a mental health and suicide epidemic in our country. In the calendar year of 2021 it is suspected we lost 599 kiwis before their time (according to ministry of health’s web tool, https://minhealthnz.shinyapps.io/suicide-web-tool/).

To raise awareness and funds to help combat this epidemic I have been climbing 600 flights of stairs everyday this month. One flight for every kiwi lost last year and a personal extra for someone very close in my life that I so nearly lost.

For the last week of this month or on the last day I encourage you all to also climb the 599 (7,188 steps). Whether you can or can’t support physically please donate- all funds will be split between Movember and Gumboot Friday both of who are frontrunners in the mental health sector in Aotearoa.
