Like most of you, we've been horrified watching the news coming out of Afghanistan with thousands of people risking their lives to get on a plane out of Kabul. The already dire and widespread poverty, displacement and lack of access to healthcare will surely only worsen in the coming months.

Closer to home, cases of COVID are surging in the Fiji with daily cases this week average 397 a day. This is stretching hospitals and clinics to breaking point. This got us wondering what we can do to help our Pacific neighbors.

Eastside Grapplers is a Brazilian Juijitsu club training out of Panmure. Keeping fit is part of our sport and we are hoping to put our muscles to good use. We plan on doing 10,000 push ups in a week. So from the 6th of September until the 12th we've set our selves challenge, and we'd love you to sponsor us. Donations will go to the New Zealand Red Cross

Donations to the Red Cross go directly to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) who is on the ground assisting the wounded and disabled, helping detainees maintain contact with their families, supporting hospitals, preventing violations of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and supporting the Afghan Red Crescent.

In the Pacific, the Red Cross works tirelessly to help reduce the suffering caused by the pandemic by providing medical support.
