Physical activity is harder than it looks for the 130 kids in the waikato living with T1. Please help me support this awesome opportunity
Waikato
Diabetes Kids Camp, is just like normal camp. But instead of teachers we have medical professionals organizing it. And the kitchen team includes a registered dietician who carb counts her heart out, measuring every portion of every food for every child!! And I'm not the only one riding that blood sugar roller coaster, we are all checking levels and removing pump tubes before we swim or go biking. For that week, I'm normal, I'm not the only one around doing "Diabetes"
Diabetes Kids Camp is a chance for me to be a kid and meet others living this life. It also means T1 Parents can TRY to go a week without waking up at 2am to do checks, and they can trust that we are safe because well my pediatrician is there!!
I am going to race my heart out for the remaining 2 rounds of the North Island Motocross series, Im aiming for the podium, and even though you won't see all the diabetes work involved in getting me there. Please appreciate its a hassle 🤔 and help support this camp and everything Diabetes NZ does to increase support and awareness for Diabetes
Jacob was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 4 and has loved attending the waikids camps since he was 7.
