I'm walking to inspire and raise money for the students at my school to attend school camp and experience the magic of the great outdoors.
Mount Roskill, Auckland
I am walking Te Araroa, the Long Pathway, 3,000km from Cape Reigna to Bluff. I've completed the North Island and will walk the South Island from mid February to mid April. I am having the most amazing time and I want the students where I teach to experience the magic of the outdoors as well. A new island and a new fundraising goal! I raised over $2,000 for last year's school camp, helping many students to attend, and want to aim higher this year.
Many of my students' families struggle to pay for the camp at Lake Karapiro that we attend every November. I would like to raise money early in the year to be able to subsidise the camp payment for those students that need help. This will maximise the chance for them to attend if they receive this help early. So please contribute and let others know too!
Challenges for my students AND for me 8 March 2026
I’ve had a bit of a setback on my Te Araroa journey in the form of a fractured wrist. But that doesn’t mean I’m stopping fundraising or my journey. While the mountain passes are beyond me right now, I’m continuing on to some of the towns en route and doing as much walking as I can on the flat easy sections there.
The students still need to get to camp later in the year and any amount you can spare will help ease the financial burden on families. Please consider helping if you can.
Thank you Linda & Steve, what a generous donation. Yes, that’s one student now assured of a wonderful camp experience! 🤩
Thank you for your support, it’s much appreciated.
SallyJane, how can I thank you! We have to meet up one day and share stories of the TA. Thank you so much for your generosity. It will help bring the camp fees down for our kids!
