Giving during Ramadan 2025
Waikato
As part of our ongoing journey to celebrate diversity and inclusion at work we are joining with our Muslim community to support them during Ramadan.
The suggestion from our internal Muslim community on how we can celebrate, and support was simple: Giving to others!
So how can you support the charity we have chosen?
You can donate via this page to our chosen charity Starship Foundation to help raise funds for sick children and their families during a difficult time.
For those that don’t know Ramadan is the 9th month of the Muslim year, during which strict fasting is observed from sunrise to sunset. Fasting is the fourth of the Islamic faith and refers to the act of not eating or drinking from dawn until sunset during the 30 days that Ramadan lasts (this includes no water!)
Ramadan is when the Holy Qur’an was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad. The end of Ramadan is celebrated with Eid al-Fitr, a three-day Muslim festival.
For the year 2025, the fasting month is expected to start on the 1st of March subject to sighting of the moon (Ijtima’).
