Fundraising for Taranaki Animal Protection Trust

Taranaki

This kitten season Taranaki Animal Protection Trust have been lucky enough to rescue two albino male kittens! Albino cats are extremely rare - making up less than 2% of the cat population world wide. They are sadly prone to health issues and our little boys are building up quite a vet bill - which is why we need your help!

Barry White & Olaf (and their tabby/tortie sister Billie Holiday) came into our care at just 5 days old. Myself and another amazing foster carer took them on and have raised them. We have faced an uphill battle with both albino boys having health issues pop up.

Both boys are visually impaired and extremely sensitive to sunlight. Olaf couldn't toilet for a long time but after many vet visits - he's now pooping on his own! He is much smaller than his siblings and still struggling to make the switch to solid food.

Barry had diarrhoea problems that we couldn't pin down. Many tests, meds and vet trips later we realised that he had an allergy to the milk replacer. I weaned him early (4 weeks) and he did well for awhile. He began having more GI problems, with many more vet trips to clear out blocks. He is now on a special gastrointestinal diet and regular laxatives - he is doing great.

As you can see we have had many, many vet trips with these little kittens! I made this page to try help Taranaki Animal Protection Trust cover some of these bills and any more that may come. Barry & Olaf will need very special forever homes and will be available for adoption in another month. Please consider donating for these special guys!

The gang are reunited!  7 January 2022

Olaf has joined his brother & sister at my place. His foster mum was having a hard time weaning him - he was refusing to eat from a dish! We decided that being with his siblings might help him learn how to eat and play like a normal kitten... And it worked! He started eating from a bowl at his first meal with Barry & Billie! They have fully accepted Olaf and love him to bits, despite him being so much smaller than them. Believe it or not these guys are all from the same litter - look at how little Olaf is compared to Barry & Billie! 🙀
