Let’s honour and remember Phil by doing what he loved. Please join us for a walk of remembrance in the beautiful Port Hills of Christchurch
Christchurch, Canterbury
The loss of Phil has had a huge impact on many people’s lives. He was loved and respected by anyone who had the privilege of meeting him.
It is coming up to 12 months since he left us, so we would like to do something to honour and remember this wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and mate.
Phil loved walking the Port Hills of Christchurch, so to honour his love of being in nature, we have organised a fundraising walk. This is not only a walk that everyone can participate in (and share memories of Phil along the way) but also raise much needed funds for MATES in Construction NZ whose programme helps support and provide an environment that encourages positive wellbeing within the construction industry.
“MATES in Construction has one simple but hugely ambitious aim – to reduce the number of lives lost to suicide in the construction industry. In 2019, construction had the highest male suicide rate for any occupational group”.
Your generosity will help make a difference by opening up discussions about wellbeing and mental health in a heavily dominated male industry, in the hope that this will prevent other lives being lost to suicide.
If you would like to participate in the walk it will be taking place on Sunday 3rd September at 1pm. Meet at the Sign of the Kiwi car park. For any further details, please contact Krystyn.
Thank you so much for your Kindness and Generosity 26 September 2023
MATES in Construction would like to acknowledge Krystyn and those who have donated to Remembering Phil.
With the support of your donations, we will be able to support the people in our industry who are struggling. This donation will allow us to provide 120 hours of Case Management support that provides immediate wrap-around help for those who have sat in the chair of darkness alone and connect them to appropriate services while keeping them safe.
MATES as an organisation cannot stop suicide alone - we can start by changing the culture within our industry and, therefore the communities they impact. To do this, we empower our industry to be able to not only accept help but to offer it to those in need.
Thank you again for Krystyn for organising the fundraising and walk to remember Phil and to the donators for contributing to help change the mindset and culture within our industry and the wider community.
Your message will be displayed on the page and emailed to the donor.
Your new message will also be emailed to the donor.
