Support The White Room in creating an inclusive community space, making sure those who face barriers can access art and creative activities!
Christchurch, Canterbury
The White Room has found a new home and is moving! The new space is bigger and will allow us to expand our capacity, hours and what we have to offer. However there are a few things we need to do to make the space a great art studio the most important being shelving, sinks and an accessible toilet. We would also love to renew some of our art materials so we can have a fresh start in our new space. Any donation large or small would be greatly appreciated!
About us:
The White Room is a creative space formed in 2014, based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand and part of SkillWise who support people with learning disabilities to live a good life.
We tackle the barriers artists with learning disabilities face in accessing conventional education, professional development pathways and opportunities needed to be successful and renowned visual artists. We support professional pathways for artists so that they can achieve their artistic and economic aspirations.
The White Room advocates for the artists inclusion in contemporary arts practice through supporting their art making, participation in exhibitions and other creative projects, by providing artists with a working studio space equipped with specialist materials and support-staff. We also provide a diverse range of opportunities for artists to exhibit and sell their work, take part in socially engaged art projects, and be active participants in the art and cultural life of Ōtautahi Christchurch.
Thank you Niki, hope to see you there.
