Fundraising for UC Rose Centre for Stroke Recovery and Research
Canterbury
We are fundraising for the development of an innovative medical device to help patients like Malcolm, continue to swallow safely. Malcolm, a Wellington cardiologist was diagnosed with the terrible disease Motor Neurone in March 2020. When he wasn’t listening to heart sounds, his passions were racing cars, enjoying food/ wine......and biking. All of which, get more difficult to enjoy as MND progresses.
The pathway to where Malcolm is now with loss of speech and trouble swallowing has made us realise how little is available to stop the progress of this horrible disease. So, we (Brynn and Anna) are bike packing NZ from Cape Reinga to Bluff to raise awareness for people like Malcolm and help highlight the need for more research to combat MND.
Your donation will enable the University of Canterbury Rose Centre to develop a device that will allow patients to do intensive computer based treatment at home, while being monitored remotely by their clinician. This will be a life-changer for so many patients especially those who struggle to travel to the clinic.
Thank you for joining us in the “ride” to help people continue to swallow safely.
