Living in the country for a very long time has highlighted the need for a rescue Helicopter when things go bad, a long way from the hospital. About 10 years ago a fellow coach collapsed at a rugby game. It took a very long time for the Ambulance to come from the town and we had to work on the victim for 35 minutes. Luckily he survived and is still with us today and still coaching but it just took far too long. I believe raising money to keep our Choppers available is vital.

Westpac Chopper Bike Ride 2026

The Chopper Bike Ride is back for its 15th year – and we need your support to make it the biggest one yet.

On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
