Riding the length of New Zealand

  • Done and Dusted!

      2 May 2022

Just a quick heads up that the Give a Little page for the Neonatal Trust is about to close and funds donated to the trust have amounted to a whopping $12,000!!!

This has blown me away and been very humbling to receive this amount.

My initial target was $3,026 being the amount of K's I intended to ride. I hit this target before I left for the ride and now at $12k!

It has been nearly a month since I returned back to normality and people are getting used to me launching into "when I was on my ride..." stories!

Once again, many thanks to those who donated.

Arrived in Bluff yesterday a full three days ahead of schedule. It was a bittersweet day in that I wanted to finish but also a bit sad that it has finished, it's been an awesome adventure!

Many, many thanks to all those that have donated to such a worthy cause, it has been truly humbling.

We are so lucky to live in this absolutely stunning country, get out there and see it.

    Preferably by bike!

  • In the South Island!!

Well, it been a massive 1,560ks through the North Island and have just touched base in the South Island today!

There were some massive days on the bike. The longest was a 160k day from Mangakino to Taumaranui solo. This was not only hard physically but especially mentally. Next Day was a 5am start from Taumaranui through to Pipiriki via the Mungapura Track to Bridge to Nowhere. This was another 110k day but more physical and was pretty wrecked by the time I got to Pipiriki. This meant I caught up to a couple of riding buddies that we separated on Day 2, so took me a week to catch up to them. We now are back on track and covering around 100ks a day.

I have met the most amazing people both riding and on the side of the road. This has started to restore my faith back in the human race, ther are so many really great people out there, you just need to stop and say hello, you'll be surprised.

Only a couple of mechanicals but nothing major (touch wood!)

Today has seen the first leg of the South Island and am really excited to start this leg.
