Riding to Raise Funds for Breast Cancer: My Kopiko Aotearoa Adventure

It’s that time of the year with another riding adventure on the horizon. I am looking forward to new roads and trails not travelled, amazing scenery and meeting wonderful people along the way.

This time, I’m taking on Kōpiko Aotearoa — a challenge I’m doing for my own enjoyment and satisfaction, but with a much bigger purpose in mind: raising funds for Sweet Louise. This is a charity close to my heart as both my Mum and Mother in Law passed away due to this serious disease. As much of a challenge this ride may be it is nowhere compared to what my loved ones endured and many more are facing on a daily basis.

Sweet Louise is the only charity in New Zealand dedicated to supporting women and men living with incurable breast cancer.

They provide the compassion and care Kiwis need to live as well as possible for as long as possible. They help ease the burden of a diagnosis. Sweet Louise provides financial, practical, emotional and social support. This might include providing meals deliveries, garden and home maintenance, uplifting wellbeing experiences and family outings. They also provide highly trained and specialist Support Coordinators to provide one-to-one support.
