Riding for Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre

$2,225 of $3,000 goal
Given by 44 generous donors in 12 weeks

I'd love your support as I ride 600km over 12 weeks in aid of the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre, which helps kids with special needs.

Auckland

Raukatauri is an incredible music therapy centre in Grey Lynn, Auckland, that works with kids with special needs to change their lives through music. It is the only music therapy centre of its kind in New Zealand.

Watch the video above to see some of the amazing work that Raukatauri does.

Matt Bostwick's involvement (page creator)

We all love listening to, or making, music. At Raukatauri, a group of dedicated therapists use music to enable children and adults with special needs to learn, engage with others, and express themselves.

Raukatauri makes a difference to the lives of children and families through providing 200 therapy sessions a month. It needs $750,000 a year to stay open and receives no government funding.

To hit my 600km target, I'll be cycling to work and doing some longer rides on weekends. Let me know if you want to join me for an hour or so one weekend. Let's explore some of Auckland's growing number of dedicated bike paths!

Magenta adventure  4 December 2015

By now you'll have heard about Lightpath. It's the magenta-coloured magic carpet ride for peddlers and pedestrians through the middle of Spaghetti Junction. It opened this week, and the first cyclists to ride it were a bunch of school kids wearing capes.

I wasn't wearing a cape, but today I tried it on my way into work. Here's the video evidence. There's something extremely cool about riding on a pink cycle path through the middle of a motorway junction under a giant Red Peak flag.

It's like being instantly transported to a future New Zealand where sustainable transport options are prioritized and our national flag reflects our confident, diverse democracy.

My magenta adventure was part of the 600km ride I am doing to raise funds for the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre. Together with a bunch of very generous people we've raised over $2,000 for this inspiring organisation that helps kids with special needs.

If you've already donated, thank you! If you haven't, you can support this great cause here: https://givealittle.co.nz/fundraiser/riding4raukatauri/
