Running the Queenstown Half marathon in honour of Brett Jude and to fundraise for Dementia Auckland, helping those still affected today
Auckland
Earlier this year, my amazing dad Brett Jude, crossed the finish line of his final triathlon in life. At just 56, we had watched dad rapidly lose not just who we were, but who he was, as Frontotemporal Dementia took him away from us. Watching someone as strong, driven and hardworking as my dad forget how to walk and talk and eat, I learnt the tremendously hard way that Dementia doesn't just take away a persons memories. It takes away all aspects of who they are and how they function.
As a way to remember my incredible dad for the healthy fit man he was, I will be training to run the Queenstown half marathon in November in his memory. To honour his love for competing in triathlons and Iron Mans, I will be running to raise money for Dementia Auckland, and I know he will be running alongside me for all the people that Dementia is, and will affect.
Earlier this year I lost my father to Dementia, and I would like to fundraise for them, in his memory for all the incredible and difficult work they do.

WOW! I am utterly amazed and so so grateful for all of the support and encouragment. It truly means the world! Ive decided to now aim for $2100, $100 for each kilometre I will be running for dad. Again, just thank you so much!
