We are running to raise awareness for Type 1 Diabetes. All proceeds raised will go to SCSNZ who are a research group based in the Centre for Innovation in Dunedin. They have a scientific team studying stem cells and regenerative medicine for the betterment of human health, in particular - Type 1 diabetes, spinal cord injuries and other auto immune diseases. Thank you for your consideration in helping us pave the way in stem cell research in New Zealand.

Anna Russell's involvement (page creator)

I have been surrounded by Diabetes all my life. I remember at a very young age watching my Grandma injecting herself. Then my Mum developed Type 1 diabetes 41 years ago and has now been injecting herself with insulin for 39 years, at some stages up to 4 times a day. I have seen her have major low and high blood sugar levels, hospitalized, ambulances called, very scary times.

Of course in the back of my mind is will this happen to me, will this happen to my children? Therefore I am running to help raise funds to continue researching for a cure as this is of top importance to help me, my family and other families coping and living with this disease.
