Running 10k to raise funds in at the Queenstown international running festival

Northland

On 24th August 2017 my beautiful partner Natalie was diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer and she passed away on the 7th March 2018. I made a promise to Natalie that I would advocate for anyone affected by the devastating diagnosis of a brain tumour. I consider myself very fortunate to have been invited to become a Trustee of Brain Tumour Support New Zealand (BTS NZ).

Brain Tumour Support NZ was formed in 2019. Our Vision is that is that everyone living with a brain tumour has the support, information and access to best treatments, so they feel less afraid, less alone and more empowered.

I am running 10k at the Queenstown international running festival on 21 November 2020 to raise funds to help BTS NZ continue to inform, support and advocate for New Zealand brain tumour patients, their friends, family and whānau.

Being a complete newbie to running the first few runs were pretty tough but I've learnt a lot about myself in the process. I will be working with a coach so I can run the Queenstown half-marathon in 2021.
