Running the ASB Auckland Marathon to raise funds for Baby Loss NZ.
Auckland
Earlier this year we were faced with the heart breaking reality of miscarriage. It was a difficult time for our family as we tried to make sense of what happened and come to terms with a 'new normal' that didn't involve the hopes and dreams of our little boy Dominic.
Baby Loss NZ came to our aid shortly after the birth of our child to create some lasting memories in photo and cast form, and help celebrate the very short time we had with Dom. We feel so very lucky to have received this service, as tangible evidence exists now of the child we lost, which helps us deal with all the things we'll miss out on in the future.
We think about him every day, but it's made easier knowing we did everything we could to make the most of the time we had with him, with help and support from Baby Loss NZ.
In an effort to support their ongoing work and 'pay it forward', I have set up this page in an effort to raise funds as I train for the ASB Auckland Marathon being held on the 20th October, and in memory of my son Dominic and all those affected by baby loss. Any funds raised will be released the day after the Marathon.
Sarah Numan and her team at Baby Loss NZ are a small charity with small budgets, but have a HUGE impact on the community and Hospitals they support. They have literally helped thousands of families who have lost babies since starting in 2008 and are consistently winning awards for their ongoing work (the latest nomination being the New Zealander of the Year Awards).
We greatly benefitted from the support we received from Baby Loss NZ. This fundraiser is to help support the ongoing work that Sarah and her team do for those suffering from the loss of a child, and in memory of our Son, Dominic Sean Donaldson.
