Running my first half marathon for Hospice Taranaki in loving memory of my Dad.
New Plymouth, Taranaki
On the 11th of September my Dad John Williamson passed away from Skin Cancer. He fought increadibly hard to stay with his family for 3 years. Hospice was such an amazing support to our family in dad's time of need. Dad had weekly check in"s at home as well as a stay at New Plymouth Hospice.
Hospice allowed Dad to hold onto his dignity right up until the very end. We are forever grateful for the support of Hospice.
It's a support that we all wish we didn't need to use, but we don't know what our story is going to look like.
I've decided to run my first half marathon on Dad's first heavenly Birthday. The Egmont Honey Half on the 18th of April 2026.
I want to run in Dad's memory, but also give back to an amazing organisation, that honestly changes lives for the better.
If you have the capacity to donate, please support an amazing cause.
If you're not in the position to donate, come support the runners at the finishing line.
Dad's last weeks of this life felt like a marathon, so if he could injure that challenge... I'm sure I can put my able body to the limits and complete this epic half for Hospice and dad.
