Support Speech Therapy for Kiwi Kids with Down Syndrome. Becky’s Auckland Marathon Challenge for UpsideDowns Educational Trust.
Orini, Waikato
Hello all!
As many of you know Ralph was diagnosed with down syndrome at birth, having down syndrome provides many challenges. Speech is a major impediment for Ralph's development, the same for many other kiwi kids with down syndrome.
UpsideDowns Educational Trust is a charity to help almost 33% of kiwi kids with down syndrome have access to funding for speech and language therapy. They receive no government funding and rely on donations to reach their $450k annual target. Currently, they are unable to fund all children and have a waiting list, every dollar raised helps get another child off the waiting list.
Every day, speech is a challenge for Ralph, so I thought it was time to challenge myself by taking on the harbor bridge and completing the Auckland marathon on Nov 2nd alongside good training friends Mikayla and Keely.
Ralph has had funded speech therapy since he was 18 months and without it he wouldn't be the capable three and a half year boy he is today.
We really appreciate the help from Upside downs, every dollar we help raise will help our kiwi kids with down syndrome have access to speech therapy.
Thankyou for the support!
