Running with Russ and Hospice Southland

Hi Everyone.

I'm on a personal journey with a very special motivating factor pushing my every step.

On the 7th of October I will be running The Mount Cook Marathon. Heck! 42kms! I have done a few halves in my time, but never once have I thought, well that was awesome, I might just turn around and run that again! But this time it’s different. This time I am running for a special cause close to my heart. I am running for Southland Hospice. Did you know that each day the Hospice reaches out to help those in need and their families, it comes at a cost of $9500! Yes that’s right, $9500. A.DAY. (I didn't know that either)

Running is my therapy. It has helped me through some tough trials. It helps me find perspective when times feel hard. It's a time to breathe, find strength, set goals, focus, recharge and heal. And at the moment, I have never needed it more.

As some of you may know, my Dad is unwell. Through the incredibly difficult cards that he has been dealt, he has shown me the true meaning of strength. So this run is for him. I will cross that bloody finish line with him in my heart with his determination and courage pushing me along the way.
