Running for Sal

  • Goal Update

      14 December 2022

The One More Minute - A Run to Remember and The Night on The Couch With Dom Harvey Fundraiser was amazing. The support was very humbling and we raised around $23,000 over the day and night.

I think everyone had a great time. And that is the most important thing. Bringing people together to connect and remember the 607 people we lost to suicide last year.

With the success of the event comes a need for a new goal. We have now raised over $79,000. There is still over 2 weeks left in the year and I still have some challenges that I will try and get through. So I think if we can hit the $80,000 mark, it would be amazing.

I am so grateful for all your support over the year. I really do appreciate it and it means so much to me and my family.

    Thank you.

    Corey.

  • New Goal

      10 November 2022

Wow. Thank you so much for your amazing support. Gumboot Friday was awesome. So many kind and caring people getting behind a great cause has meant we now need a new goal. That new goal is $60,000.

After all the opportunities I was given last week, to share my story, I am even more passionate about what I am doing and the goals I have set myself. I am really looking forward to getting back into training and getting ready for my 10 hour run on the 10th December.

I hope to see many of you there.

    Cheers,

    Corey.

Having reached the $40,000 goal, it's time to make a new one, and I want to smash this one to. We need to smash this one. We need to do more. We need to be that change. Gumboot Friday is that change. So let's get behind them and help our Kiwis 25 and under, get the help they need.

  • New Goal. And its big.

      22 July 2022

    Hey Team,

Firstly, thank you for you support and donations. It really does mean a lot to me and means we have provided over 100 under 25s with free counseling.

We have passed our 15k goal. With money still pledged and a couple of fundraising events coming up, I think we can aim big. $30,000.

With the support I have had, and continue to have, I believe we can get there.

I will continue to run until the end of the year and continue to push for change and raise mental health awareness.

Together we can be the change.

    Cheers,

    Corey.

  • Goal Update

      29 March 2022

    Hello Everyone,

We are nearing our original goal of $5000. With a few pending donations to come in and with the 7 people pledging $1 per km (or up to 1000km / $1000) we have smashed the original goal in only 4/5 weeks.

I have therefore decided we can push the goal out and try for $15,000. I believe with your continued support we can smash this goal as well and provide much needed money for the great cause that is Gumboot Friday.

Thank you all so much for your donations and support. It is very much appreciated and provides great motivation for me to run on days I do not feel like running.

I have plans to do some giveaways and other events to get you all involved. So keep an eye out and follow my progress on my Instagram page @runningforsal.

    Thanks again,

    Corey Choat
