Just giving everyone the chance to donate for a little longer!
Still time to donate and help motivate me to cross the finish line!
Only 12 days to go to the Ultra. You may have noticed a few less runs from me lately, for which there are two reasons. I'm tapering off for the big day, and I have a little niggle in my right knee that I'm just watching a little closely after twisting it in netball and basketball last week.
So excited to go out there on the 11th of October and finish the Ultra, but even more excited to bring in some funds for the rangatahi we support at Te Tahi Youth. So please, please, please donate and share! Any little bit helps :)
Thank you Maggie for donating and nominating the egg and spoon run! And you even joined for the run. Sadly neither of us made it very far with the eggs before they fell to their death. If you want to see me do more activities like this one, please donate and nominate an activity!!
Thank you Emily for your donation and nominating me to do the 1am run!
If you'd like to see me do more of these, please donate and nominate an activity! Next up is the Egg and Spoon run!
Kia Ora e te whānau!
Getting so close to the end now, thank you so so much to all those that have donated. I have just crossed 1000km run since I started training, and it has been hard! But so so worth it for our rangatahi.
Less than 4 weeks to go to the Ultra, so please donate and share as much as you can :)
We've had our first activity nominated, the 3 legged run and have successfully completed it.
The lovely Emily, one of our employment navigators, kindly volunteered to partner with me and we ran 1km together!
If you want to see me complete more of these activities, please donate and nominate one of them.
Hey team, we’ve got an exciting opportunity for all you lovely donors out there! If you donate the specific amounts in the bingo card, you can nominate an activity for me to do! Activities can only be done once, so get in quick! I’ll be doing things like running in a dress, in gum boots, crocs or jandals and a whole range of other things you can make me do!
Make sure you comment with your donation if you would like to nominate one of the activities for me to do!
Hey team, I haven’t put up an update in a while so I thought it’d better be a good one!
I ran a full marathon yesterday as a training run which feels crazy to say! Lots of elevation nearly 1000m, it was probably the toughest run I’ve done. Cramped up a few times in my quads but managed to push through till the end. I’m feeling quietly confident with the Ultra now!
In other news, you may have seen on Te Tahi Youth socials, that I ran part of the Great Wall of China a few weeks ago as I returned to Aotearoa from the UK. What an amazing experience that was!
Anyway, if you can, please donate and share! We have a very ambitious goal of 30k to be raised but every little bit helps and goes a long way in supporting our rangatahi!
Yay! 🎉 made it to the first 1000$
Thank you so much to all of this who have donated and shared the page, each of you are making a difference in the lives of rangatahi in Ōtautahi/Christchurch.
78km done this week, bringing it to total just over 630km since the start of training. Finished the week with a 30km on Sunday in the blistering heat of the UK heatwave. Was supposed to do 32km but didn’t quite have it in me, ran out of water/electrolytes at about 20km and pushed till the 30.
Ended the run with a cool swim in the Sea at Shoreham with the sun beginning to set.
As always, if you haven’t or would like to go it again- please share and donate so we can continue the awesome mahi we do at Te Tahi Youth!!
I’m away on holiday in the UK, but that hasn’t stopped me from continuing my training plan so far!
Have been for a few beautiful runs in the English countryside, by the sea and the river Thames in London! Running has become one of my favourite ways to explore countries!
Nearly through Week 11, another big week this week-aiming to do 80km total. Started to feel a little niggle in my knee on yesterday’s run, holding hope that it’s nothing major and I can continue with the week as planned!
If you haven’t already, please donate and share this page so we can continue the amazing mahi we do at Te Tahi Youth!
9 weeks in, and it was a big one this week with 80km. Finished the week with a 32km run, the longest one since training began. Getting closer and closer to the Ultra, nearly at halfway.
Total 503km since training began.
If you haven’t already, or can again- please donate, subscribe and share this page so we can continue the amazing mahi we do at Te Tahi Youth :)
Wooops, correction to my posts- I am 8 weeks in to training! Somewhere along the way I forgot a week haha
7 weeks in and feeling good! Biggest run of the year completed yesterday, 28km with over 400m elevation. Still a long way to go before I'm ready for the 50km!
70km for the week, biggest running week so far. Total kms=423km
Please donate, share and subscribe if you can :)
Week 6 done and half way into week 7! Switched up some of the runs lately. I noticed I was slowing down quite a lot so I threw in a nice tempo run on Sunday instead of the long run.
Up in Auckland for a night, and managed to squeeze in a couple little runs here! Nice to see whānau and to run some new areas.
Still tracking nicely for the Ultra. Please subscribe, share and donate! Any amount will make a difference in the lives of thousands of rangatahi in Ōtautahi/Christchurch :)
Five and half weeks in, still going strong! Did my longest run of the year so far on Sunday with a leisurely 26km. I could feel a bit of tiredness and strain in the muscles but they have recovered nicely into Week 6 of training.
I’ll be looking to raise money in other ways too, such as Sausage Sizzles and other community events. If you have connections or ideas, please feel free to get on touch with us at Te Tahi Youth.
If you can, please share, subscribe and donate :)
Week 4 of training is complete, reaching 50km total for the week which takes me to about 192km done overall since the training started.
It was a tough week this week with a bit of sickness slowing me down, but managed to push through in the end.
I enjoyed another run with my baby boy, with the pram adding some good resistance training!
I’m so grateful for all those at Te Tahi Youth and elsewhere who have shared, donated and subscribed to the page. If you haven’t already, please consider doing that too :) Honestly, even the smallest amount or sharing can go a long way in supporting the young people of Ōtautahi!
It’s 3 weeks down and so far have not missed a run. 47km for the week :)
Started to feel the tiredness on my long run this Sunday, very thankful that this week is looking like a slightly more restful one!
If you haven’t already, please donate, subscribe and share this page!! Anything you can give or do goes a long way in supporting our rangatahi!!
What a finish to week 2 :) Have had some generous donors in the last few days, and finished off this week’s training with my own very hilly half marathon!
Which makes it 51km for the week, and will continue to build more and more.
If you haven’t already, please share and donate if you can :) it will go a long way to supporting our young people in Ōtautahi/Christchurch!
Kia Ora!
First offical week of training for the Taupō Ultra done! A total of 43km, more than I’ve run in quite some time and it’s only the beginning!
Enjoyed getting up the hill a bit to the sign of the takahe, and pushing the body a bit more.
If you haven’t already, or would like to give again, please donate to this campaign! Every little bit counts and goes a long way to supporting the rangatahi of Ōtautahi!
Mauri Ora!
Check out my training plan that has started this week if you want to monitor my progress!
Training has begun! First 5km done and dusted, many more to go!
