Running the New York Marathon to fundraise for the Christchurch victims' families.

Auckland

I was deeply shocked and upset about the Christchurch shootings and decided I wanted to do something meaningful to help the victims' families rebuild their lives and show the world that New Zealand and New Zealanders are united in standing again racism, violence, and violent weapons.

I had entered the New York Marathon already, but after what happened in Christchurch I decided to dedicated this event to Victim Support and the Christchurch victims' families.

Symbolically, I will run the New York Marathon wearing the Banghladesh cricket jersey - their cricket team were headed for one of the mosques and narrowly escaped. Wearing their jersey symbolises for me that we are united with our Muslim brothers and sisters.

I will give this run all I have - it is a major bucket list item. There is no better cause than this!

Like all New Zealanders, I was deeply shocked and upset by the attack on 2 Christchurch Mosques, and wanted to do something meaningful to help raise funds.
