Up to 1.7% of people are estimated to be born with one of the 40+ variations grouped under the term intersex. Like many things that are not often talked about, people who are intersex and their whānau benefit hugely from receiving accurate, factual information from people like them that is not wrapped up in ideas about what ‘normal’ should be.
Funds raised will go to ITANZ (Intersex Trust of Aotearoa New Zealand), a charitable trust that provides information, education and training about the experiences of those with variations in sex characteristics (also known as intersex). Its purpose is to improve the lives of intersex people, their whānau and allies by challenging normative attitudes, raising awareness and celebrating diversity. They work daily towards bodily autonomy for all people with variations in sex characteristics.
ITANZ is an intersex led organisation. Find out more about them here: http://www.ianz.org.nz/.

Thats a wrap! 3 November 2020
Kia ora koutou!
A big thank you again to everyone who donated - an amazing $1,380 raised for ITANZ!
I was also very happy with my own time of 3:27:20 on Sunday, particularly after a rather sleepless night and very early start! (Up at 4am to have some hearty porridge, before being on a ferry at 5am for a 6am start). Hard to believe I was still on my feet when this photo was taken!
Thank you again for your belief in me and the ITANZ kaupapa!
Ngā mihi nui
