Running with Heart: Supporting Arohanui Hospice

A fundraising run where every step honours loved ones, fuels cancer research, and gives back to Arohanui Hospice.

Manawatu / Whanganui

In April 2026, I’ll be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon — 21.1km through the heart of one of my favourite cities. It’s the kind of challenge I never imagined taking on. I’ve always been more of a sprinter or team sports person — I run when there’s a ball to chase or a finish line I can see.

But this half-marathon is different.

It’s not just about endurance — it’s about purpose.

This journey is part of a wider campaign I’m running to raise funds for cancer research and care. My primary fundraising goal supports Worldwide Cancer Research, helping spark bold new discoveries across the globe. But I also wanted to make sure this journey gives back to the people and places that support us closer to home.

That’s where Arohanui Hospice comes in.

Arohanui Hospice provides specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses in our region. But more than that, they offer warmth, dignity, and time — not just to those receiving care, but to the whānau walking alongside them.

Last year, someone very dear to us spent their final days supported by the team at Arohanui Hosice. The compassion and presence they offered left a lasting mark. Supporting them now feels like the most meaningful way to give back.

🏃‍♀️ Why I’m Running

This half-marathon is more than a physical challenge — it’s a reflection of how deeply illness, grief, and love can shape our stories. Every kilometre I run is for someone who’s been affected by cancer or has had to say goodbye too soon.
