Russell's Run for First Steps Himalaya

  • We got it done!

I finished the run today, in pretty trying conditions - heavy rain, muddy hills and cramp for the last 37km of the run.

Once again a huge thank you to everyone that has donated. I never dreamed of raising this much money - I am very thankful to you all. This amount of money will have a material impact on the lives of many kids and communities, great work everyone.

It is not too late to donate if you haven't already. The page will be open for another couple of weeks, until the end of Feb. All contributions small or large gratefully received.

    Cheers,

    Russell

We have topped the $3,000 goal, so I have bumped it up to an ambitious $5,000 goal. The support so far has been incredible so a huge thank you to everyone that has donated so far! Onwards and upwards.

    Cheers,

    Russell

  • Up and Running

Thank you all for your generous contributions, absolutely amazing to have hit $2,500 so early on!

My training has started in earnest this week, with 17 weeks until the big run. I also completed the Cape Kidnappers Half Marathon a few weeks back: 21km with 750m elevation, completed in 2:33. This was a good hit out and has given me some confidence and a proper taste of what climbing does to your legs.

Thanks again for all the support - roll on $3,000!!

  • $1,000 Raised!

      18 August 2025

We have had amazing support, a huge thank you to all the generous legends that have backed me so far. As of writing this post we are at $1,139 which is roughly the wages of a teacher for a whole year; a full classroom of kids has a year's education provided because of you.

The best part is we still have ages yet to go, so I have increased the goal to $2,000. I hope we can smash this second stretch goal too, let's go!
