Samuel's 2025 Mental Health Awareness Fundraiser

Wellington

In late 2024, I quit my day job to pursue my music career!

As part of this, I am performing at various retirement homes around Wellington, performing a mix of covers and my own original compositions. At the end of these shows, I am selling CD's of my first album called 'Breaking the Silence', with 100% of the proceeds going to this fundraiser. In line with my release and goal with this album, I wanted to raise money for mental health, and committed to doing this through CD sales after concerts and various instagram lives I do.

With the release of the album, I initially raised $2,600 for the Voices of Hope, but I would like to continue fundraising. Over the last 5 years, I have heard of many people losing their battle with mental health, and there is still lots of need for awareness.

My vision back in 2020 for the initial fundraiser was the following, and remains the same:

"Through the release of this album and Givealittle fundraiser, and possible future concerts, I am determined to raise money and awareness of, and help break the stigma and silence around, mental health. My hope is that by listening to my story woven through my music, people may feel they can talk to somebody they trust instead of ‘toughing it out’ and staying silent like too many are doing."
