Chopping the dreads in memory of Mr Crosswell
Manawatu / Whanganui
Jimmy Crosswell (or Mr Crosswell as I knew him) wasn’t just a teacher or a hostel master. He was a passionate sportsman, husband, father, and role model to myself and my fellow pupils at PNBHS.
Tragically he lost his life after a battle with leukemia in 2017. Mr Crosswell was only 30 years old when he passed, far too young for a man who had so much life left to live. So much love and happiness left to share with those around him.
After he passed I saw an old photo of Mr Crosswell with dreadlocks which made me laugh because I had been joking about getting dreads after leaving school. No one actually thought I was serious. 8 years later and I think it’s finally time for a chop.
In a few weeks I’ll be shaving my hair at College House, raising money for the Manawatu Cancer Society and Arohanui Hospice, in memory of Mr Crosswell.
Mr Crosswell was a great man. The Cancer Society and Arohanui Hospice are great charities. I’m hoping that together we can make a great contribution.
Thank you for taking the time to read these words and pay tribute to a beautiful soul, taken from us far too soon.
