Shaving 75cm of Hair to support Palestinian/Kiwi Nehad's family evacuate Palestine
Auckland
Women in Palestine have had to shave their heads as there is hardly any water to drink, let alone wash their hair. In solidarity with these Palestinian women, I am shaving my head to raise awareness and fundraise for the evacuation of a Palestinian/Kiwi's family who has already lost 78 family members in this war. Nehad's surviving family to be evacuated include:
Eila (Neice) - 2 years old, Hadi (Nephew) - 18 years, Zein (Nephew) - 19 years old, Sham (Neice) - 23 years, Reem (Sister in-law) - 42 years old, Mohammed (brother) - 45 years old
As a Vietnamese war refugee who grew up in the US with a Palestinian best friend, I deeply understand the trauma caused by western colonialism and imperialism. The collective liberation movement showcases the interconnectedness of all oppressed peoples, which is why I have been going to the weekly Palestinian Liberation Protests which take place every Saturday at 1pm in Ōtautahi/Christchurch at the Bridge of Remembrance. I will fundraise for 2 months then Nehad will shave my head at 2pm on Sunday, September 22 at the Palestine Liberation Protest in Auckland near Britomart station. Please join us!
