Shaving my head for Tourettes

My tics cause me to pull out my hair and hit myself with my hairbrush...so I'm shaving it off to raise money for Camp Twitch run by TANZ.

Waikato

Last year I was diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome and it has affected my life in many ways I could never have imagined. I have verbal and motor tics which make controlling my speech and movements impossible. Sometimes I have tics which cause me to pull out my hair or cut off chunks of it when I see scissors. Solution - Shave it off for charity!

Throughout the last year Tourette's Association of New Zealand has been my lifeline. They have supported me and many, many others and I would love your help to raise money for the important work they do - particularly the annual camp they hold so New Zealanders living with Tourettes and their families can get together for a week of fun activities and information sharing. No kid with Tourette's should miss out on attending this camp!

My hair will be shaved off at Azarni Hair on Thursday 20th December. It will be donated to the Sustainable Salons ponytail programme where they make wigs for those suffering from cancer, alopecia and other medically induced hair loss conditions.
