Before chemotherapy, I’m shaving my head to raise funds and bring hope through Gabby’s Starlit HOPE
New Plymouth, Taranaki
Many of you may know that I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, life has been a whirlwind of surgeries, appointments, and next week I begin chemotherapy.
Before my hair begins to fall out, I’ve decided to take back a little control. With the help of my kids and my wonderful hairdresser, I’ll be shaving my head. If I can turn this confronting moment into something positive by supporting Gabby’s Starlit HOPE, it will make it even more meaningful.
Losing your hair is one of the most visible parts of cancer treatment - something I never imagined facing. But while this journey has been frightening as an adult, I can’t imagine facing it as a child, or watching your child go through it.
Our family has experienced the kindness of Gabby’s Starlit HOPE through their Distraction Boxes and Play Parcels during hospital visits with our children. I’ve seen first-hand how a simple act of kindness can bring comfort during difficult moments.
Founded in memory of Gabby, this incredible charity supports children and families facing illness throughout New Zealand by providing moments of hope, joy, and connection.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, I would be so grateful. Every dollar raised will go directly to Gabby’s Starlit HOPE.
Thank you for your kindness, encouragement, and support. Whether you donate, share this page, or simply cheer me on, knowing people are standing alongside me on this journey means so much.
