Skateboarding up New Zealand from the bottom to the top grilling up at every stop! Raising money to help young kiwis get mental health help.
Christchurch, Canterbury
We’re skating from Bluff to Cape Reinga, the entire length of New Zealand, to raise awareness for youth mental health and fund free counseling through I AM HOPE.
Mental health has affected us personally. We’ve lost loved ones and we’ve seen too many young people struggle to get the support they need. The reality is, thousands of young kiwis are stuck on waiting lists, unable to access help when they need it most.
We’ll be stopping at skateparks along the way and our goal is to host free Bbqs at every major skatepark, We want to show young people that they’re not alone and that it’s okay to talk about what they’re going through.
All funds raised in this give a little goes straight to I AM HOPE, helping young Kiwis get free, timely mental health support. By supporting this cause, you’re giving young kiwis the chance to speak to someone who truly listens, without the stress of long wait times or financial barriers.
If you can donate, awesome. If not, a share or a conversation about mental health helps just as much ❤️
We begin our journey on the 1st of March as we hitch hike down to the starting point of bluff, we will be documenting the whole trip plan to keep everyone updated throughout social media
Together, we can make a difference one skatepark at a time! @TGCUNZ
Health Update & Page Closure 7 November 2025
Hey everyone,
After rolling my ankle back in April, I’d been holding onto the hope of getting back out there to complete the Skate Up NZ trip. Unfortunately, with some changes in circumstances, it’s become clear that I won’t be able to make that happen.
It’s definitely not the outcome either of us hoped for, but I’m really grateful for everyone who believed in this idea and showed so much support along the way. Every message, donation, and bit of encouragement has meant more than I can say.
All funds raised have gone directly to I Am Hope, so even though the trip couldn’t go ahead, your kindness is still helping make a real impact for mental health in New Zealand.
Thank you all again for being part of this it truly means a lot.
With appreciation,
Ben
