Run the Hamilton Half 5th Oct to promote awareness of Tusk and Horn, who raise funds for the rescue of orphaned infant elephants and rhinos.
Waikato
Tusk and Horn Wildlife Trust was started by Zoo Keeper Sarah Jones in 2013. The Trust aims to promote opportunities for the NZ population to learn about the iconic elephant and rhinoceros species and the incredible people protecting and rescuing the victims in the trail of the poaching criminals.
The Trust supports the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust - in Kenya. Sheldrick's and his wife were pioneers in the rescue & hand-rearing of orphaned infant elephants and rhinos. They also operate Anti-Poaching, Mobile Vet & Aerial Surveillance teams.
I read about the Sheldrick's work and was touched by their compassion and determination to make a difference. My family have spent time in Africa and have had the opportunity to observe elephants and rhinos in their natural habitat. We appreciate the work that goes into ensuring these fabulous animals survive.
Tusk and Horn approached me to ask if I could run to help raise funds and awareness for their cause.
Who wouldn't jump at the chance to run a few km's as an elephant or rhino?
Thanks so much. The suit was a hoot and I had a lot of fun.
Thanks so much Suze. I've got my lubricant ready and my tough it up attitude. It should be a complete hoot!
Charlotte, you are a complete star. Thanks so much. I'll be thinking of you as I shuffle round the course.
