A ride from Queen Charlotte Sound to Milford Sound for a good cause.....
Dunedin, Otago
My plan is to ride Te Waipounamu from one sound in the North to the other in South with a group of other pedallers.
When this event came up I was keen to link it with donations to a community based organisation. Otago hospice was an obvious choice - it's so in my neighbourhood that I pass it multiple times a day and since hospice funding is lacking, it seemed right to help out. Also my own family has required hospice care in the past.
While I pedal away south, feel free to join me - on a bike and/or by donating.
Thanks for support in advance...
Cheers Pete Abey

A bit of an update from me about my ride and to say thanks for all your generous donations to Otago Hospice. This inaugural event was my first bike packing experience in NZ and it certainly didn't disappoint.
It was some pedal, 87hrs on the leather, covering 1475Kms on mainly gravel roads & trails, with 17829 metres of climbing thrown in.
Having had some time to recover and digest the experience, I can't express enough how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful country. My journey would have to be the best way to see and experience the stunning landscape of Te Waipounamu.
I also have to thank Gabbi my partner and her parents Noel and Jill for making it possible.
I will also post some pictures on my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/peteab21/
