1,500km in 2.5 weeks!
Nelson / Tasman
I’m cycling 1,500 kilometres from the top of the South Island to the bottom!
In November, I’ll be biking – using muscle power, not an e-bike – from Ship Cove, Queen Charlotte Sound to Milford Sound, via inland Marlborough and Canterbury, Central Otago and the Nevis Valley. The route corresponds to one of New Zealand’s Great Rides, the “Sounds to Sounds”. It will likely take me about two and a half weeks. Accommodation will be a combination of tenting, cabins and staying with the occasional friend on the way.
Even though I am 72, I am blessed with good health and enjoy a physical challenge.
I’m a member of Cobden-Runanga Parish, married to Pauline, and we have three daughters and seven grandchildren. I enjoy the outdoors, particularly tramping, fishing and biking.
I’m hoping to get some people in my parish and beyond to sponsor me for the ride, with all the funds going to Bishopdale College.
Our college, our turn – Bishopdale has trained hundreds of leaders who serve across New Zealand. Let's raise another generation.
