Running for Her Crown I’m taking on 100 km to support Kanan, 25, fighting breast cancer. Your donation helps cover her cold cap hire.
Wellington, Kapiti Coast District
Hair is more than strands — it’s confidence, identity, and a sense of normality.
As a hairdresser for over a decade, I’ve worked with many clients going through cancer treatment. One that stays with me is my sister’s mother-in-law, who lost a breast. She was a true warrior , despite fear, she made the brave decision to shave her hair herself. I was honoured to shave her head, but I also felt the weight of that moment. Hair loss is about more than appearance, it’s part of a person’s identity.
NOW, my cousin, only 25, is facing breast cancer. She’s chosen to use a cold cap during chemo.. A device that can help reduce hair loss, but it’s expensive to hire and adds to the challenge of taking time off work.
To support her, I’m running 100 km along the Kapiti Coast, all in one go (If you know me I don't do things by halves). This is not a registered race, it’s my personal challenge to raise funds and awareness for her fight. Every kilometre is dedicated to her courage, her crown, and the strength of her community
Kanan is my husbands' first cousin but I was raised that family is currency and the more we have the richer we become ..
