Stuff!! Prostate Cancer lets Walk the Portugese Camino

  • We have done it.

    We have reached Santiago de Compostela & it is a bittersweet moment. I am exceptionally proud of myself & the girls, after a hellish day yesterday in searing heat, it feels surreal to be here. There were tears when we got to the plaza in front of the Cathedral as I have planned to do this for Pete for 3years, & to finally accomplish it was overwhelming. Thanks so much everyone for you kind donations they will be a great help to the Selwyn & Christchurch support groups. There will be a few more blogs to go, so do check in. Do try & donate as it truly is for a fabulous cause.

  • Day 10 of our walk.

    The temperature in Spain is hotter than Portugal, so we learnt quickly that if we have a big day of walking we leave early. The earliest has been 6am in the dark, headtorches on, but lovely cool air. It's rather nice watching the small villages come to life. We have been chopping between 2 routes, but are now on the spiritual way, we will have a hard day of climbing tomorrow, but in a few days we do a wonderful boat trip. We have all had our share of blisters, & lack of sleep, but thats all part of it. We have had fun trying to order food, or buy groceries with our total lack of Spanish, but with gestures & google translate we get there. Hope you have followed our blog & again thanks to you all for your support.

  • Our fourth day of walking

    The weather has been hot & sunny the whole time, so we have absolutely drenched in sweat by the time we get to our accomodation. We have met some amazing people on the Camino, & keep on crossing paths a various times. We have had to walk on boardwalks, along beaches, both rocky & sandy, thru' forests that include Gums & Cork trees, along the most picturesque little lanes, passed cute houses. Have gone very rural & along the edges of Cities. This walk is so varied & it truly is quite magical, The locals have been really friendly & when they understand why we are doing this walk they get quite emotional. We have even had fellow Pilgrims donate, which has blown us away, it really reinforces that we are doing the right thing. Thank you for all the donations.

  • The walk is about to happen

    We are in Porto & are now officially pilgrims, we have our Camino passport & shell that lets everyone we pass know we are pilgrims, & are walking the Camino. We leave early tomrrow morning to walk 27 kms, not bad for a first day. Again thank you everyone for your very generous support. Don't forget our blog, which give you better updates.
