Hawke's Bay
Our very own team of HDC staff are entering into the Hawke’s Bay Hundy on Sept 26 and they need your help to raise funds for STAROS - a Hawke’s Bay trust that provides information and support to those bereaved by suicide.
The Hawke’s Bay Hundy is a 100km Team Relay that supports Mental Health in the Emergency Services and raises funds for STAROS. The kaupapa is “It takes a team. You don’t go through it alone.” It speaks for the event itself where teams of 4-14 people support each other to complete a 100km relay across Hawke’s Bay.
At HDC we believe that the wellbeing of our staff is key to organisational success and sustainability. Hastings District Council is committed to reducing the stigma around mental health within the organisation and this is reflected in our MAURI TŪ, MAURI ORA, Wellbeing Framework.
Marketing & Communications group manager and Hawke’s Bay Hundy team manager Naomi Fergusson agrees.
“Mental wellbeing is something we are really focused on at HDC. I have worked in organisations that have lost staff to suicide, and experienced personally how suicide impacts on those left behind. Running is one of my favourite ways to clear my head and get a good dose of endorphins so this seemed the perfect event to support.”
Please help to support our team #HastingsProud Hundy Heroes by making a donation to Hastings District Council’s HB Hundy Give a little page and support those in Hawkes Bay bereaved by suicide.
