Practicing medicine in the Himalayas - Fundraiser for the Himalayan Trust
International
Imagine living in a remote mountain village where the nearest hospital is days away by foot. For many in Nepal's Everest/Solukhumbu region, this is reality.
I become a doctor at the end of this year (!!) and I've been given the opportunity to spend 11 weeks working in two hospitals based in Nepal with the Himalayan Trust. In April, I set off and begin my uphill trek to the Everest Region. I'll be working in the Solokhumbu (Everest) region at two hospitals set up by Sir Edmund Hilary and his legacy: Khunde (3840m) and Paphlu (~2400m).
I want to give back to the hospitals and community by fundraising for the Himalayan Trust, who continue to provide education, water, and healthcare for the Sherpa people. As part of this fundraising effort, I will be hiking up to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes prior to the start of my clinical placement - the highest Base Camp in the world at 5,364m and the highest freshwater lakes system in the world.
Every donation makes a tangible difference no matter how small - contributing to hospital supplies, medical training, and healthcare outreach projects. If you can, please donate - and if not, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much.
Thank you!
