Rowing for men’s mental health
Hamilton, Waikato
Men’s mental health is something we can’t afford to ignore.
Too many men in New Zealand struggle to talk about what they’re going through. They may not feel safe, comfortable, or open enough to be heard. When those struggles stay hidden, they can grow into bigger issues with devastating consequences.
In 2024/25, the suspected self-inflicted death rate for men in New Zealand was 16.2 per 100,000, compared with 5.8 for women. For Māori men, the rate was 28.1 per 100,000, almost twice that of non-Māori men.
The Last Chance Project creates a safe space for men to check in, connect, and be around people who understand. Sometimes you don’t need the right words ,you just need to know you’re not alone.
Our 24-hour row is raising money to support men’s mental health and help create more of these spaces.
All money raised will go towards helping these men in need, and those that will unfortunately come after.
