Fundraising to support tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau living with type 1 diabetes in the Canterbury region.
Canterbury
Canterbury Youth provides support for tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau/caregivers in the Canterbury region who live with type 1 diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes is an incurable autoimmune condition where the body sets up an attack against the cells within it that make insulin. The body stops producing insulin and the pancreas stops working. Those living with type 1 diabetes are dependent on insulin for the rest of their lives. Diagnosis is predominantly in children.
Canterbury Youth also hosts events, support groups and a yearly family camp for children and their families/caregivers. These events enable tamariki to connect and forge friendships with others who live with type 1 diabetes. Canterbury Youth events also provide parents/caregivers the opportunity to connect with others over shared experiences.
Thank you for supporting our fundraising for Canterbury Youth!! :-)
