On 18 Feb I'll be doing a half ironman with the aim to raise some money for CF NZ in honour of my big sis, Rebecca. Would love your support!

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the most common life threatening genetic disorder affecting New Zealand children. In a snapshot it is a nasty disease where the body produces too much gluggy sticky mucus affecting vital organs (lungs, pancreas, liver etc.). While the prognisis and treatment for people with CF is always improving there is always more that can be done and better ways to support the people with CF and their families.
I know a bit about CF as my sister, Rebecca, had it, and my family knows what a deblitating disease it can be to live with on a day to day basis (not that it stopped Rebecca doing stuff as the picture shows!)
Shortly after Rebecca died I remember reading the CF News and articles about family members who had done Ironmen / Half Ironmen to raise money and awareness for CF, and I thought to myself one day I am going to do that for Bex - and that day will soon be here (eeeek), 18 February to be exact down in Wanaka.
Cystic Fibrosis NZ provide equipment essential for people with CF, information and education, peer support, emotional and financial support to families etc.

I will be swimming, biking and running some rather long distances (1.9km, 90km, 21km) in the hope to raise some money for the Cystic Fibrosis Association. My sister had CF and like too many she succumbed to the disease at a young age.
It's all on tomorrow! 17 February 2017
So tomorrow is race day, my support crew & I (aka Mum & Dad) have made it safely to Wanaka & its stunning! I'm all registered, bike & gear all dropped off so nothing for me to do but eat carbs & relax.
I'm feeling rather anxious and have been all week, almost enough to put me off my food (almost) I'm sure once I'm in the lake and on the road I'll get into the groove - just need to remember it's my race and not to be intimidated by the pros and their sperm helmets.
Thanks heaps for all the donations, I'm very humbled and stoked to have that support behind me, I know it'll be a great boost up the hills.
Will let you know how I get on tomorrow. Challenge Wanaka has an app & im # 1361 if you want to follow me.
