TBIG's Wellington office's 5km Challenge to support Wellington's Type 1 Diabetic Kids during Diabetes Action Month
Wellington
This year a group from TBIG's Wellington office are entering in the Corporate Challenge 5km event on the 13th of November 2024. Alongside the 5km physical goal, we have set ourselves a much more meaningful goal in an effort to support Wellington's Type 1 diabetic kids during Diabetes Action Month.
We are fundraising and raising awareness for Diabetes NZ Wellington Youth who actively support fundraising efforts for the annual Live Brave Mana Ora youth camps. The camp hosts up to 60 children and youth from all around the Wellington region for 5 days at El Rancho in Waikanae.
The annual camp is one of the most exciting and anticipated events for the 8-17 year-old campers, volunteers, and medical team alike, providing children and youth with Type 1 Diabetes a place where friends and connections are made. The week is full of great activities giving kids unforgettable memories.
Kids have the support of round the clock medical teams and young adult leaders, some of which who also have type 1 diabetes, so Tamariki/Rangatahi are in great hands, cared for those who really understand Diabetes, and gives families respite care which they don’t often get.
All funds raised go towards keeping the costs of attending the camp affordable to all Type 1 families in Wellington. If you have the means and want to do your bit to help provide this opportunity to kids, any donations would be greatly appreciated.
