This is part of the student-led fundraising committee for Te Whare Pounamu Dunedin Women's Refuge annual appeals week!

Otago

This July our fundraising committee will run our annual Te Whare Pounamu Dunedin Women's Refuge Appeals Week.

The appeal seeks to raise funds for the Refuge so that they can continue to provide some of the most difficult, but essential services to our community. 1 in 3 women experience physical and/or sexual violence from a partner in their lifetime*. Police investigated 118,910 incidents of family violence in 2016 or about one every 5 minutes*. 76% of family violence incidents are NOT reported to Police*. The Women's Refuge provides programs and education to help prevent domestic violence, provide shelter and safehouses to women and children fleeing from violence, and provide advice.

If you are unable to attend any of our fundraising events, or would like to contribute further, please do so here - The Refuge is an extremely important organisation which does amazing work.

For more information on the events we are holding and to get involved please go to www.wrawdunedin.com
