The Wee Walk around Mt Taranaki
28 January 2023This time last week I was doing the Wee Walk around Mt Taranaki by road a distance of 130km in 23 hours 45 minutes around 130,000 steps. I was inspired to do do the walk in the memory of my mates wife Mandy who was cruelly taken away by cancer last year. The 2 charities to benefit are Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ and Cancer Research Trust NZ.
A week later I have had a toenail removed the one next to the big toe. Three blisters still healing, the pads under my heals still tender and I am walking gingerly, hopefully in another week they will be healed.
My right knee is slightly swollen giving me a little pain and that was my concern as it started to trouble me in the last 2 weeks of training. I had an excellent masseuse here in New Plymouth work on it a day before the walk. My mate Pete back in Scotland his mum Cath gave me a knee support when I was having issues walking the length of the UK. This helped big time.
Yesterday I was live on Access Radio here in New Plymouth. I was interviewed by a lovely lady called Anne. It is an hour long with 3 songs I chose Try by Pink, Siren by Pearl Jam and My Hero by Foo Fighters. If you have the time please listen to it.
